Medication Information: Acne is one of the leading causes of facial blemishes and is usually treatable. About 9 out of 10 teens develop some form of acne. Most cases are mild and can be treated with skin creams such as azelaic acid. Azelaic acid has two functions, firstly, azelaic acid kills bacteria and secondly, it can open the closed pores of the skin. Azelaic acid is also used to treat rosacea. This seems to be done by reducing inflammation. Azelaic acid is available as a cream or gel in pharmacies.

 

Contraindications to the use of azelaic acid

 Pay attention to the expiration date of the medicine and do not take it if the medicine in your hand has expired.

Never give the medicine to anyone else, even if you have the same symptoms.

 Do not take more than the dose prescribed by your doctor.
