Goserlin Drug Information

Goserlin affects certain parts of the brain and blocks the production of some of the sex hormones that your body naturally produces. It is used to treat a number of different diseases, such as some cancers - prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women. Goserelin is given for some uterine problems and to treat infertility in women.

Although the exact cause of prostate cancer or breast cancer is not known, the sex hormones testosterone (in men) and estrogen (in women) increase the growth of these cancers. Goserelin reduces the amount of these hormones and this helps prevent the growth of cancer cells.

In women, goserlin is useful in treating problems such as endometriosis and uterine fibroids because it inhibits the production of female sex hormones. It is also given to prepare the uterus before surgery, gusserlin also encourages ovulation in women and that is why it is used in the treatment of infertility. Goserelin is implanted under the skin and gently injected into the body.
