Pregolide drug information

Medication Information: Pergolide is used to treat Parkinson's disease, although other drugs than Pergolide are preferred to treat this condition. In Parkinson's disease, the amount of the chemical dopamine in the brain decreases. Decreased dopamine causes symptoms such as tremors, muscle cramps, and slowness of body movements. Pergolide is a dopamine receptor agonist, meaning that the drug is similar to dopamine and binds to its receptor. As a result, the symptoms of Parkinson's disease are reduced. This drug is used alone or in combination with other drugs to treat the disease.

Possible side effects of Pergolide

All medications, along with their positive effects, can cause unwanted side effects in the body. However, these complications do not occur in all people. Over time, your body will adjust to the new medication and these symptoms will go away, but if the following symptoms persist or become painful, consult your doctor.

Drowsiness: Avoid driving and working with tools in this situation.

Darkening of the eyes, especially when getting up: This complication usually goes away after the body gets used to this medicine. In these cases, getting up slowly can help reduce the symptoms. When your eyes go black, lie down until blood flow returns to normal.

Nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain: Eat simple foods and avoid spicy and high-fat foods.

Runny nose, hallucinations (seeing and hearing things that are not real), uncontrollable movements of the joints, double nose: Consult your doctor if any of these are a problem.

Important Note: Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following rare but serious symptoms:

Shortness of breath or other respiratory problems, persistent cough, chest pain, abdominal pain.

• Any change in behavior such as increased libido.

Tell your doctor if you notice any other symptoms that you think may be due to pregolide.
